Land & Lineage Acknowledgement

In the spirit of unity and respect, I acknowledge the land on which I practice yoga. I acknowledge my occupation on the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the xÊ·mÉ™θkwÉ™yÌ“É™m (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and SÉ™lÌ“ílwÉ™taÊ”/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

As we connect body and breath, allow us to remember the deep wisdom and rich history of the Indigenous communities who have stewarded this land for countless generations. I honour their profound connection to their land and culture while acknowledging the colonial history of these lands.

May our yoga journey serve as a modest homage to the profound interconnectedness of all living creatures, demonstrating our unwavering dedication to acquiring knowledge and cultivating empathy.

With gratitude and respect, I acknowledge the ancestral lands and waters that have nurtured and continue to sustain myself and everyone else.

It is with deep respect that I acknowledge the ancient and profound lineage of the yogic practice that originates from the Indian subcontinent.

I honour the teachers, gurus, and practitioners who have carried this tradition forward, preserving its authenticity and passing down their wisdom through generations. I recognize the sacred texts, such as the Vedas and the Bhagavad Gita that have illuminated the philosophical and ethical underpinnings of yoga, guiding us toward self-awareness and union.

As an individual of European descent, I approach this ancient practice with humility, acknowledging the cultural, historical, and colonial contexts that have shaped its evolution.

I commit to practicing yoga with mindfulness and appreciation, recognizing that my engagement is a bridge between cultures and an opportunity for personal growth and understanding.
